Once upon a time there were two beautiful women, soulmates you could call them… and they had a vison. A vison for a collective of young women creating all kinds of things, music, art, fashion, writing, design and so on. These women had strong names, names of unusual origin, with a hint of magic and surprise… Merlin and Nova, women with a purpose to create something imperfect, unashamed, and exciting. The founders of Dumpstar, a women led collective, creating a platform for women to occupy and express themselves without the boundaries of perfection. Celebrating artmaking at all skill levels. A proudly messy, loud, and magical exploration of creativity beyond the limit of social pressures.
Dumpstar focuses on music, art, fashion and design as expressions of powerful, unashamed statements. This is a passion project that has been simmering in our minds and in increments during our free time over the past two years.
Nova and I, the founders of Dumpstar will be undertaking and transforming this personal project for our motion design major work. We have grand plans that will be simmered down to achievable goals for our project.
We are endeavouring to create a branding system for Dumpstar and the collateral that goes along with it. In the form of Instagram ads, opening video sequences, animated posters etc. The Design, colour system and typeface have already been set from a series of badges/pins (Nova designed them, mine turned out too ugly at the time) we had printed earlier this year.
